It was effortless to assemble (per my Son in law) & the play time spent on this is amazing. I moreover invested in the Suretrack locking system because of his age (but he can alter up the track easily when he is older). My daughter moreover bought the Thomas the Train (battery powered) which pairs perfectly & moreover has enough power to pull the trainset that came with the railway. We didn’t have any trains yet & wanted a comprehensive set, complete with many track pieces, special pieces like bridges & depots, & trains. This train set fit the bill perfectly. The kids & their friends play with it for a satisfactory part of the day, every day. The set comes with a few bridges, the depot, a crain, a satisfactory number of trains, people, signs, trees – & most importantly, an superior selection of tracks! I didn’t realize before this purchase that you really need a LOT of the various track pieces to make lots of play inspiring train layouts & we have been extremely pleased with this set. All of the pieces are made from wood & seem well made. Our younger child often chews on pieces & sometimes throws them on the ground & everything is standing up to the attention well. The Circo, Ikea & Thomas wood trains all fit the tracks in case you have them in your collection although you really don’t need anything extra with this complete set.”
J. Walsh wrote “This is a tremendous train set. It seems well built, it’s large & my son approximately died when he saw it. On major flaw however would be in the design of the raised portions of the rails. The wood rails just sit on wood blocks. They barely stand up on their own let alone when a child attempts to run a train over it. So, while I recommend this train set, I moreover recommend you budget an extra $10 to go buy some 3M double-sided mounting tape & emotionally prepare to cut 30 1-inch strips of it to secure the wood risers to the track. There is really no getting around it. Other than that, my son is happy, so I am happy. Enjoy!”
StephK wrote “I guess because of the reviews we had high hopes for this train set! The pieces are all very nice quality yet the tracks are a huge problem for our 2 1/2 year old. The tracks do not fit tightly together so they constantly fall apart! Christmas morning was pretty disappointing with a train set that would not stay standing! We starting searching for solutions & found the train track clips on Amazon which we ordered. If you order this train set, you should order a large 3-pack of train clips to keep it together. The clips work nicely yet do not work on the bridge so that section continues to fall for us. We did not want a set that we had to glue to keep it together so I think we are giving up & going to see if we can return this one. The train & other pieces are very nice yet I guess it doesn’t matter if you can’t keep the tracks together.”
John wrote “Lots of activities within the box. My biggest complaint is that the magnets on the trains are far too weak. They really only have the strength to pull one car up a little hill. But the more frustrating aspect is when my toddler gets frustrated that the trains wont go together because there inst enough repelling force to tell him that they are on backwards. Also a more satisfying “snap” when the go together would be desirable.”
