Carolin E wrote “Everything I love approximately Star Wars Lego is expressed in this one small, yet action packed set. Where should I start.
First off, the build it’s self has an intricate, semi-complex feel that keeps you involved from beginning to end. I posted my dislike before of “quick builds” in my A-wing review, yet the Desert Skiff is one that’s pleasant to watch shape up. As always, the detail in the set is perfect, & for such a small set they managed to cram in a ton of moving parts & action features. You obtain a movable plank, adjustable “wing” panels on the back, control levers, & just when you thought they covered it all, Lego goes the extra step & includes things not seen in the movie, like a weapons locker in the middle of the skiff & a missile on the side. Like I said before, it’s details like these that make me really love Lego. I should moreover mention the ship is very sturdy too when built, so kids can really play with it with out worrying approximately it falling to pieces.
And of course how approximately those mini-figs? You obtain a tremendous ratio of satisfactory guys to offensive guys in this set, so you can really stage out some battles. A few details are off here, & just approximately my only complaint at all. Luke doesn’t have his black gloved hand (at least he didn’t in the set I got). The Death Star came with a black gloved Luke, so why is so complex to obtain one with the skiff. Also, as at least one other reviewer noted. Lando has no hair once you remove his guard disguise. If you want Lando to assist Luke fight Boba Fett, he has to be Baldo. Oh well.
And finally, the huge surprise of the set, & the frosting on the cake as far as I’m concerned, they actually managed to include the Sarlac Pit Monster in with the set, not a creature I normally think they would pull off, or even think of including, since it’s basically a hole in the ground, yet they did it. It’s based on the ROTJ special edition monster, & looks a little too much like Audrey Two from Little Shop of Horrors, yet it does look good. The instruction booklet even encourages kids to place Boba Fett inside it’s mouth, which is just another pleasant Lego detail.
Overall, this would be a tremendous set for the kid (or adult) who can’t really afford the bigger sets, yet still wants a pleasant to build set with nearly unlimited playability. You can’t go wrong with this one.”
Frederick M wrote “Another LEGO Star Wars kit added to my six year old’s ever expanding collection. My son was able to put most of this together on his own, with just a little assist from me. Part of it was that he started growing impatient with how long it was taking him to assemble. But hey, for each piece he assembled, it was one less piece to irritate my thumbs with. It stays together better than the average LEGO kit, & he loves playing with the Sarlacc the best.”
Michael Q wrote “its a pretty large set for 16 bucks.. it has two packet where u can build the monster first then the ship.. it has more avatar than most 20 dollar under sets.. so pretty nice.. the ship was nice. cant go wrong for 16 buck.”
Phanatic wrote “You can’t go wrong with LEGO Star Wars, that’s for sure. I bought the Desert Skiff for my fiance for Christmas (who is 22, by the way) & he loved it. He’s had his eye on it for quite some time now, as its one of our favorite scenes in the movie. The Sarlacc pit is just as you would imagine, & we can’t wait to proudly display it in our living room!”
D Perrine wrote “The skiff itself is very cleverly built, I really enjoyed being puzzled by the instructions & wondering “Why’d they do that?”, only to see how it works a few steps later. The model looks quite nice when finished.
AND you obtain Lando & Boba Fett figures with it! Those are practically worth the price of the set alone.”
