Abigail’s mom wrote “We bought this for my 3 year old & he loves it! He & his father have taken it apart several times & put it back together again…in fact they’ve done it so often, Ben can do it himself now! He absolutely loves the battery operated screw gun (It’s a huge deal!). Looking forward to adding another one to his collection!”
Tina P wrote “My son is 2.5 & received this toy for christmas. it was his favorite of everything he received. the ability to actually construct & take this toy apart gives him such satisfaction. he can operate the drill on his own (with a few exceptions on the more complicated pieces). I highly recommend this for any child who loves tools, construction equipment or just doing things themseles!”
Michele wrote “My son had this toy a year ago. Our neighbor friend would come over & the first thing he went to play with was this take apart plane. Then, we gave it to him for his birthday when he turned three. This is a sturdy toy. It is interactive. It is a tremendous learning toy for hand manipulation. It has nice colors & I would recommend.”
Laura E wrote “From the moment we opened it, my 3.5 yo has been in love with putting together & taking apart this toy. And my two year old loves to play with it, too, he just doesn’t quite understand how to do it without a lot of help. One of the best toys we have ever had, very durable. The only problem is, my kids have lost a few of the parts so now we can’t put the back wheels on or the propeller! Looks like we’re gonna have to break out some duct tape. I can’t wait to obtain them the crane truck.”
C. Linz wrote “I purchased this as a birthday gift for a three-year-old. He absolutely loved it for the first few days, working for hours at a time. Then one by one, we misplaced parts. Fortunately, the screws from his Design & Drill Activity Center (which has a similar drill & lots of extra plastic screws) ***will*** work on most of the airplane parts, so we were still able to use the toy.
The real problem for us was that the Battat drill from the take-apart airplane set stopped working after five days of use. Like other reviewers, we tried replacing the battery, yet it clearly is a mechanical problem. I purchased this at a local toy store & will return it directly to them. I will try to exchange it for another set – maybe we will have better luck with another drill. No warranty is listed, & other reviewers wrote that Battat does not provide satisfactory customer service.
The idea behind the toy is wonderful, & our three-year-old was very pleased with the toy. He did need assist assembling it, yet could take it entirely to pieces by himself & would ask for assist re-assembling. If the drill would just work consistently, I would be able to recommend it as a tremendous parent-child activity. However, without a working drill, children will be very frustrated & disappointed with this set.”
L.H. Savage wrote “We bought this for our 2 1/2 year old son for Christmas. He loves to “fix things” yet was just a little to young to obtain the concept of the power drill going forward or in reverse so needs assistance with it. Also the bolts don’t all stay tight so when they loosen on their own it’s complex to play with this as if it was just a truck. He loves to play with the drill though & I think he will grow into using it on his own.”
Greg D wrote “I have twin 4 year olds & they liked it at first & it was exciting. Played w/ the first couple of days yet now that they know how to put together they have put to side & have not played w/ for a couple of weeks. Good for teaching them skills such as taking apart & putting back together yet like I said once they learn how it’s not that exciting.”
Dan wrote “Got this for my “almost” 3 year old for Christmas. He loves it! We have a lot of pleasant playing with it/building it/taking it apart. If your kid loves planes like mine (we live close to Boeing) they’ll love this. Even though he doesn’t quite yet grasp the concept of fitting the bits into the screws/bolts the way they are shaped is very forgiving & allows him to do it with very little assist from me. My only small issue with this is the drill doesn’t feel like it’s gonna last long, & the directional switch sometimes doesn’t work. Other than that, a pleasant toy!”
